Morning Light in the Mossy Valley
A winter sunrise slants through bare trees onto mossy boulders beside a running river.
Let your eyes wander
- Begin with the big boulder in front, wrapped in thick green moss.
- Two slender trees grow up from among the stones, their trunks furred with moss.
- Brown fallen leaves have gathered in the hollows between the rocks.
- Where the light catches the edge of a mossy stone, it glows with tiny bright threads.
- The river runs past on the right, white where it tumbles over the stones and smooth where it slows.
- On the far bank, an old fallen trunk leans across the rock, hung with pale dry grass.
- Up in the bare branches, a few last golden leaves are still holding on.
- To the upper left, the low winter sun comes through the trees in long beams of misty light.
There is no last thing to find. Look again wherever your eyes would like to rest, or close them and keep the picture.
