The River of Light

A wide jungle river lies still under a hazy sun, its banks heavy with old trees, palms and vines.

Let your eyes wander

  1. Begin with the wide, still river, glowing where the hazy sun touches it.
  2. High above, the sun is only a pale round disc behind the mist.
  3. On the left bank, huge old trees lean out over the water, hung with vines and ferns.
  4. Follow the fan palm reaching over the river: two small birds with red breasts sit side by side on its stem.
  5. On the right, a long trail of white birds skims low across the water toward the far bank.
  6. At the bottom, a mossy fallen trunk slopes down to the river, and a plant on it holds up a single red flower spike.
  7. Far down the river, where the banks almost meet, a tiny pale speck rests on the water in the mist.

There is no last thing to find. Look again wherever your eyes would like to rest, or close them and keep the picture.

Keep going

Nothing here needs finishing. Every door leads somewhere, and the last one is always darker than this.
