A Marmot in the Morning Sun
An alpine marmot sits up beside its rock, eyes half closed, among wildflowers and green grass.
Let your eyes wander
- Begin with the marmot, sitting up quietly in the sun with its eyes half closed.
- Its long whiskers catch the light, fine as threads.
- Behind it, a slab of grey rock is patched with tufts of bright yellow-green moss.
- Under the rock there is a shadowy hollow, tucked just behind the marmot’s shoulder.
- To the right, a low plant spreads a cloud of tiny yellow-green flowers.
- In front of the marmot, two thin stems hold up small faded flower heads.
- Further back, softly out of focus, a few pale daisies stand in the grass.
- Low on the right edge, one small yellow flower peeks out between the leaves.
There is no last thing to find. Look again wherever your eyes would like to rest, or close them and keep the picture.
