The Mossy Pool Below the Falls

A waterfall pours in thin white threads over dark mossy ledges into a stream, which runs past bright green moss into a clear pool with a slow swirl on its surface.

Let your eyes wander

  1. Begin with the slow white swirl turning in the pool at the bottom.
  2. Through its clear edge you can see golden pebbles and flat stones resting on the bottom.
  3. Above it, the stream spills over a low step of dark rock in soft white ribbons.
  4. Higher still, the waterfall comes down in many thin threads across the ledges.
  5. On the right, a thick carpet of bright green moss covers the flat rock.
  6. Look closely and a few small fallen leaves lie scattered on the moss, one of them orange.
  7. Near the right edge of the water, a single pale stone sits in the shallows.
  8. Among the tumbled rocks on the right, an old grey branch leans against the stones.

There is no last thing to find. Look again wherever your eyes would like to rest, or close them and keep the picture.

Keep going

Nothing here needs finishing. Every door leads somewhere, and the last one is always darker than this.
